Before we start we want to make it clear that under no circumstances is the Xiaomi Mi 9T inferior to the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. Specifically, they are two different terminals created with the aim of meeting specific needs: one of them with a slightly lower performance is ideal for virtually any daily task, while the other with a powerful Snapdragon 855 becomes the perfect choice for those who need extra performance either to run games that require high performance or heavy applications that make intensive use of the processor.
Processor, GPU, and Performance
One of the main features that differentiate these terminals is their processor. For its part, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, has the Snapdragon 855, a powerful high-end processor that has an Adreno 640 GPU and is also manufactured in 7nm.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T, on the other hand, has a Snapdragon 730 processor, which, while not up to the high end of Qualcomm's range, does offer great performance for virtually any everyday task. The processor is made of 8nm and has an Adreno 618 GPU.
Video Recording
Another of the differences we find between these terminals is their main camera, as well as the video recording capability. For its part, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has a SONY IMX586 sensor, while the Xiaomi Mi 9T has a main camera that while maintaining the same resolution, is called SONY IMX582. Two different names but for practical purposes, we are before the same photographic sensor. Its main difference is based on the video recording capacity that we will now detail.
The video recording capacity in terms of resolution and frames per second is concerned, they change remarkably between them. For its part, the Xiaomi Mi 9T allows us to record video at 4K@30fps, while the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro increases its number of frames to 4K@60fps.
Laser focus
Another of the differentiating details that also has to do with the main camera of these smartphones is in the type of approach. Unlike the Xiaomi Mi 9T, the Mi 9T Pro has a laser focus between two of its rear cameras.
In particular, this technology allows a much faster and more precise focusing, which is also extremely useful in low-light situations or even in night photographs. Probably one of the differences very few knew about.
Same battery but with different fast charge
Possibly this is one of the characteristics that you still did not know that differentiated both models, and is that although both models have a large battery of 4,000mAh, only one of them has a fast charge of 27W.
Specifically, the model that has this great load power is the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, since the Xiaomi Mi 9T only have 18W fast load. Also note that both models come with an 18W transformer inside their boxes, so if you want to take advantage of the 27W fast charge of the Pro model, you will have to buy a suitable adapter separately.
Better navigation with dual-channel GPS
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9T differ in their location technology. While the Xiaomi Mi 9T has a conventional GPS, the Pro model has a dual-channel GPS with two bands (L1 and L5).
This technology is focused on optimizing pedestrian navigation or even in those places where the connection is often lost as it is in tunnels. This way, a faster and more precise positioning is achieved.
